Limbo a workshop by Bruno Listopad and Erik Hagoort at MTP Master of Theater Practices, ArnhemBruno Listopad and Erik Hagoort will co-teach a workshop at ArtEZ Master of Theater Practices MTP, Arnhem, inspired by the notion of hoovering on February 16, 17 and 19, 2018. In his poem, La Divina Comedia the Italian Renaissance poet Dante visits Limbo. This was a place of non-status, of non-belonging, a special place that was reserved for the souls of persons that didn't fit into any category. They were left to hover in a condition of undecidability and unknowability, not knowing where to belong or what to expect.
Conditions of hovering are also explored in recent art and research. English curator and researcher Irit Rogoff advocates a state of non-belonging. Not just as a temporary moment in the process of making and thinking, but as a permanent state for art and research to be in, to work from. The course will take inspiration from this idea and encourage participants to hover. The workshop will be an exploration of conditions of hovering, through conversations on conditions of hovering in our life and art practice, and through movement research, in which ways for the body to hover between collapse and suspension will be explored.
The class will evolve as an intensive daily diptych. The complete group of participants will gather twice a day.

SHOW MORE New Installation at Stroom Den Haag, The Hague
October 3 - December 13, 2015
Saturday, October 3 (17:00): opening
Location: Hogewal 1-9, The Hague
Bruno Listopad and Nikola Knežević will present a multi-channel video installation on self-objectification mediated through online broadcasting.
The installation by Bruno Listopad and Nikola Knežević presents a selection of YouTube online activities of "non-artists" that facultatively and publicly share a designed image of themselves or their desires, according to their own principles. These individuals take charge of their online representation by transforming themselves into subject-objects that either comply with or challenge established norms of behavior. The performative qualities these works have and the creative strategies they employ raise questions about the distinction between art and "non-art" practices. To intensify their qualities, the works are shown within a digital art space - a museum - that is created to emphasize the notion of the Internet as today's largest archive and panoptical museum. This "museum" is conceived as an expression of total control by the way it attempts to command the visitors' gaze, all the data it aggregates in its collection and the subjectivity it engenders. More info
The exhibition will be accompanied by an indepth Stroom School program looking at the theme of control from a variety of perspectives and linking it to the city of The Hague. Culture of Control is made possible in part by the Creative Industries Fund NL, Mondriaan Fund and the City of The Hague.

In the fall of 2014 Stroom Den Haag will present the so-called WeberWoche, celebrating the re-enchantment of the world and ideas. The starting point of this exhibition and performance program is the concept of the Entzauberung der Welt, the disenchantment of the world, a notion first articulated by the German sociologist Max Weber in Science as a Vocation (1919). Artists, performers, film makers, composers and theoreticians resourcing from multiple areas of knowledge and operating through contrasting artistic and discursive strategies will shape a multifaceted program aiming at questioning the role of enchantment in today's secularized Western society. In which artists, current and former students, and theorists reflect on themes and notions that have emerged in the program as particularly challenging and productive, namely latency, constraint, collaboration, failure and trust. Bruno Listopad will be co-curating To All Tomorrows Parties at TENT Rotterdam, Rotterdam
Bruno Listopad is co-curating with Mariette Dolle an exhibition at TENT Rotterdam titled To All Tomorrows Parties. A program with contributions of Authentic Boys, Aitana Cordero, Toon Fibbe, Yoeri Guépin, Daisy Kroon, Ola Maciejewska, Camilla Milena Fehér, Abner Preis, Ieke Trinks, David Weber-Krebs. The exhibition will focus on the interest shown by young artists in the common ground between dance, performance, fashion and sculpture. In the program artists challenge the strict division of roles between the artist and public and express themselves in theatre-like performances, performative fashion shows, song, dance and cross-border activities. At the centre lies a literal, physical conception of art in which the encounter with the public breaks the regime of the exhibition space. The strict division of roles between artist and public in a setting of passive spectacle shifts from observing to being observed, from passive consumption to active participation.
The exhibition can be seen from September 8 to November 6, 2011. For more information and the times of the performances visit TENT's website and Facebook page.

Hypermap is a lab for the remembering, combining and forgetting of (embodied) knowledge. Camillos Theatre of Memory transforms scholars into spectators, so argues Camillo in Lidea del Teatro. He imagined a theatre in its original sense as a place in which a spectacle unfolds. This aspect of Camillos idea inspired BIT and Danslab to create an interactive installation concerning memory and knowledge: Hypermap. Hypermap is an installation of the multiple that functions as an external representation of a shared memory of knowledge the one of that specific moment; a memory that can be perceived and which feeds off the input of the visitors who themselves become participants. Hypermap will be presented during the Performance Studies International Conference #17: Camillo 2.0 Technology, Memory, Experience in Utrecht. Read more.

Listopad: The objective of this research is to investigate striped from a choreographic or dramaturgical context, how the immersion into chaotic states, alienation, chance and precariousness can turn into a self-generating mode of movement production. The origin of this study lays in my interest in the relation between chaos and order and the tension between the democratic and despotic body. Read Listopad's interview here

They will process their idiom through the stuttering of irregular repetitions, blocks, and disfiguring textures. Bruno Listopad participated in the very first Dancing by Daylight with the performance Against Architecture; now, in the very last one, Listopad comes full circle with the installation NOV.27,1924 created for Cover Festival. The installation calls attention to the often forgotten dadaist choreography Relâche (19249, for which artists like Francis Picabia, Jean Borlin, Eric Satie, Renê Clair, and the Ballet Suédois collaborated to shift existing notions of choreography.

Caosmos at Something Raw Festival, Amsterdam
Bruno Listopad installation Caosmos will be exhibited at Something Raw Festival, Amsterdam, from February 2 to 6, 2010 (18.00 - 20.00) at Brakke Grond, Witte Zaal.
During Something Raw Festival Bruno Listopad will be working on location. Listopad will collect together objects found in the area around the theatre and combine these in an extravagant way in an installation that will grow throughout the festival and can be experienced every day. Given Listopad's previous work, Spectatorship, Caosmos is sure to lead into a paradoxical universe. Listopad, who has created countless (contrary) dance productions, has chosen an installation that we can enter as this physically 'takes' the audience somewhere, but without guiding or manipulating. 'In an installation, the viewer can remain "objective" and open up to the experience of the moment. There is space for the viewer's own preferences, to choose what to look at and how to move and to respond to the world represented.'
The closing presentation will be made during The Platform onFebruary 6, between 13:00 and 17:00 hours.
Spectatorship
With this new performance Spectatorship, Bruno Listopad continues exploring the possibilities and limits of the mediums of dance and performance art. Listopad explores the position of the spectator in relation to the performer, and questions the inequality between the two. The performers in Spectatorship indulge their darker sensibilities. They affirm what is captured in their person, and use that to create the appearance of something new through a process of alienation. And in the end, it is up to the audience to decide whether the inequality between spectator and performer is real.
Concept: Bruno Listopad / Made by: Bruno Listopad together with the performers / Performers: Angelina Deck, Aleksandra Maciejewska, Kay Patru, Amaranta Velarde Gonzalez / Resident artist: Eric Schrijver / Music by: Dirk Haubrich, the performers and others / Set design: Edwin Kolpa & Bruno Listopad /Costume design: Edith Ordelman & Bruno Listopad / Light design: Albert Tulling & Bruno Listopad / Photo: Bruno Listopad / Special thanks to DANSLAB for giving the possibility to research for this performance / Spectatorship is a co-production of Korzo producties and Disjointed Arts Foundation.
